Meta Agent

Connect Instagram and Facebook to yourang.ai

The actual connection: press “Connect”, authorise access and select your Page and Instagram account, one click at a time.

Once your accounts are prepared (see “Prepare your Meta accounts”), connecting to yourang.ai takes a minute. You do it once and it applies to every Meta agent in your business.

Before you start

  • You have completed the four steps on the “Prepare your Meta accounts” page.
  • You are logged into yourang.ai with your account (you need Owner or Admin permissions).
  • You know which Facebook profile to log in with: the one that administers the Page.
  • You are using a computer with an up-to-date browser: it makes the Facebook login window easier.

Connecting the account, step by step

  1. 1

    Open the Integrations section

In yourang.ai's left-hand menu, look for and click “Integrations”.

  2. 2

    Find the “Meta” card

On the integrations page scroll to the “Meta” card (recognisable by the Meta icon). Below it you'll find the “Connect” button.

  3. 3

    Click “Connect”

A new window (popup) opens towards Facebook. If nothing opens, check that your browser isn't blocking popups: an icon usually appears in the address bar — click it and choose “Always allow popups from this site”, then try again.

  4. 4

    Log in to Facebook

In the window enter the credentials of the Facebook profile that administers the Page. If you are already logged in, Facebook takes you straight to the authorisation screen.

  5. 5

    Grant ALL the requested permissions

Facebook lists the permissions yourang.ai needs to manage messages and comments. Leave every box ticked: do NOT untick any, or the agent may fail to read or reply. Press “Continue”.

  6. 6

Select the Page and the Instagram account

Facebook asks which Pages and Instagram accounts to grant access to. Select your business Page and the linked Instagram account. If you have several Pages, choose only the ones you want to hand to the agent. Confirm.

  7. 7

    Wait for confirmation

The window closes by itself and you return to yourang.ai. The Meta card now shows the “Connected” status (or a checkmark/“configured”).

What you'll see after a successful connection

  • The “Meta” card under Integrations shows the connected/configured status.
  • The selected Facebook Page and Instagram account are associated with your business.
  • In the new-agent flow the “Meta” card becomes selectable (it was disabled before).
  • From now on new messages and comments start arriving in the yourang.ai inbox.

What yourang.ai does behind the scenes

You don't have to configure anything manually: on connection yourang.ai automatically recognises the Pages you administer and the linked Instagram accounts, and prepares them to receive new messages and comments. You never see those technical steps: all you need to know is that as soon as a customer writes, the conversation appears in the inbox.

Reconnecting or disconnecting

  • Reconnecting (occasionally necessary). For security, Facebook periodically asks you to renew the authorisation (usually every couple of months). When the agent stops replying for no apparent reason, go back to Integrations and press “Connect” again, repeating the login. Reconnect the SAME Page and the SAME account so you don't lose your conversation history.
  • Disconnecting. If you want to stop, use the option to remove the connection on the Meta card: the agent stops sending and receiving until you reconnect.

Common problems and fixes

  • The window closes without connecting anything. You probably denied a permission, or closed it too early. Try again and grant every authorisation.
  • The Instagram account doesn't appear in the selection. It isn't professional or isn't linked to the Page. Go back to “Prepare your Meta accounts”, complete Steps 1 and 2, then try again.
  • Facebook messages arrive but Instagram ones don't. Almost always Instagram's “Allow access to messages” switch is off (Step 3 of the preparation). Turn it on and try again.
  • No window opens when I press “Connect”. Your browser is blocking popups. Allow popups for this site in your browser settings and try again.
